Glcan [in sing-song]: Tokio Hotel are visiting us, visiting us...
Girls scream more.
Glcan: Let the girls scream for a bit...
Girl [voice gritty from screaming so much]: TOM I LOVE YOU!!!
Glcan: Oh, you are so cute! You really hear this all day long... I love you. Those are the three words you probably hear the most, you probably hear them more than "how are you." Let me say them, too "I love you!"
Girl: Tom, you are a porn-pig!
Glcan: What is he? He's a porn-pig?!?
Tom: What, I'm a porn-pig? Yeaaaaaah...
Glcan: With your fans, I'm getting all confused in my head... But I just wanted to ask... all bland... like, how are you?
Tokio Hotel [all together]: Great/Very fine.
Glcan: That's nice. We haven't seen you for a few days now, like on VIVA. You've had a bit of a holiday, right?
Bill: Exactly. Over the holidays and new year's, we flew off for a bit, to an island, and relaxed.
Glcan: Beautiful. Did you fly all together or were you like.. oh, eh...
Bill: We spent the holidays apart this time around.
Tom: Well, Bill and I were together.
Bill: Yes. [Girls apparently get dirty thoughts from that and go like wooooo]
Glcan: Where were you?
Bill: On the Maldives.
Glcan: Was it nice?
Bill: Very nice! I like that a lot, white beach and palm trees and stuff.
Glcan: And you two, where did you go?
Georg: I was on the Maldives, too, but without those two.
Bill: He was on a different island!
Glcan: Oh, on a different island, did you, like, wave to each other like "helloooooo, look - my coconut!"
Gustav: Yeah, no. I was in France on ski holidays.
Glcan: Oh yes, you're the ski bunny.
Gustav: Mhm.
Glcan: Often times. And? Did you wind down, did you relax? Are you like... let's get started again?
Tom: Yeah, look, we're still a bit tan...
Bill: Yeah, but only a little bit! [the three of them show their arms and the girls scream]
Glcan [to Bill]: You are actually very tan!
Tom: Oh yes, he's very tan. We were just in Cannes, and got a bit of a tan there, too... yeah, so.. we're definitely relaxed.
Glcan: Nice... how did you celebrate Christmas? Like, seriously underneath a palm tree?
Bill: Uhm, no. For Christmas, Tom and I were still at home, like with the family and stuff, real nice. Had a nice dinner, very traditional, and then flew off right away.
Glcan: Nice.. And new years?
Georg: I was under a palm tree...
Glcan: [to Georg] You were under a palm tree... [to Gustav] and you were snowed in, like you're supposed to for Christmas?
Gustav: No, no, I was still at home for that. Like, in Germany. And then after new year's eve, I left.
Glcan [to Tom and Bill]: And where did you party, we want to know? Where did you spend new year's eve?
Bill: We were on the Maldives for that, too. It was nice, there was a little band playing and stuff... it was nice, it was rather quiet.
Tom: And no fireworks, nothing!
Glcan: No fireworks? They're not allowed to do that on the little islands, I think..?
Tom: Oh yeah they are, last year---
Bill: Yes, last year we were on the Maldives too, and there were like huge fireworks and stuff... but this year, it was all quiet, with a little band and nice dinner and... yeah, nice.
Gustav: I was in Magdeburg.
Glcan: In Magdeburg, for new year's! And what's there to do for new year's in Magdeburg? Is there a special bar to go to?
Gustav: Yes... well, yes...
Glcan: Like "Magdeburg in-spot" or whatever?
Gustav: Yeah... people think Madgeburg is like at the end of the world, but there are actually a few places to have a good time.
Georg: No fireworks for me, either, unfortunately. I think I was actually in bed by 1AM already. No real party.
Glcan: Oh, alright. A "normal day" and why not... you're always very busy. You have just been traveling around to Moscow and Paris etc. and [to the camera] we actually followed them around, you'll see that at 4PM if you want to see more about that. [turns to the band] But you can tell us a bit already... what were you up to there?
Bill: We... uhm... we were... In Moscow, we played a concert in front of a lot of people and uhm, we've just been around with no end... we were just in Cannes and also performed at the NRJ awards and... yeah, lots of stuff to do.
Glcan: Alright, well, Tokio Hotel are back now... though they've never really been gone. But you know you always get the best things here, so we'll watch the world premiere of the new video "bers Ende der Welt" now... [girls scream] But first, we'll watch some backstage material, you know how it's always like "So this is what it's like behind the scenes!" And we'll have a look - have fun!
[Clip starts with a few images from the video shoot. The camera catches the band approaching] Bill: Wonderful day! So we're here at the video shoot for our new single. You can see, back there are some people running back and forth and climbing up the walls to get everything ready. So I'm sure we'll have a really long day, and I'm excited to find out how it all plays out. I'd say... just look around, because we've got stuff to do. We need to get back to shooting now. So have fun and see you around! [More images of the shoot and some music.]
Bill [off voice]: The song is called "bers Ende der Welt" and we're telling a story... well, it's about finding new ways and following your own path. It's about how you sometimes have to get out of your everyday situation, to break out somehow. And sometimes you just start a completely new life. And that's also what the video is about.
Tom: Yes, like a futuristic city that is somehow very bland. Everybody is wearing the same suits, we will put them on later, too, and walk with them. And then there's this scene where we are singing on a platform, like, yeah, singing against all this bland everyday life stuff. And it's all upside down.
Bill: The people get out of their everyday life. We get them out by performing this song, we want to wake them up. I think there's a point in everybody's lives where they're like "Yeah, it's the same thing everyday..." it was like that before, you have to get up at 5AM and have to do this and that... and it's like, okay, I have to change something, I have to do something else, and I want to. And that's what these people are doing, they wake up and are like okay... and change something about the grey city and walls and this path that only leads straight ahead.
[more clip images]
Bill: Lately, we've mostly been in the studio. We've written a lot of songs, we've taken a lot of time off to shut ourselves in there and spend a lot of time just with this, like we did for the first album. We wanted to have time for this and feel good about it, without any pressure or stress.
Tom: We... as musician, you always want to try new stuff, so the album will probably sound a bit different, like... of course like Tokio Hotel, of course, but like I said, we tried some new things, worked on stuff, but nothing changed about the studio itself. It happened the same way as the first album.
Bill: And everyone likes it, then it's done. Well, a few things still get tweaked here and there, but it will come out soon.
[more clip images]
Bill: I have to say... every video of ours had something cold or wet...
Tom: Yeah, I think that's how it's supposed to be... video shoots are never really comfortable. Like he said, it's very cold here, and a lot of stuff is happening, it's still going to be a long shoot... and we have to concentrate.
Bill: Yeah, we definitely need some breaks and some heating, and then we can go ahead again.
[more clip images, then the scene changes, Tom enters a tiny room. Throughout this whole scene, the boys are being very sarcastic.]
Tom: Alright, we're showing you our luxurious living room... like our backstage. It's an old bus, and... yeah, lots of stuff to see. Here's the catering [camera shows a little plate with a bit of fruit] and here's our big sitting area [a small couch] and in there is where we change.
Georg [pulling out one of those grey suits, teasing]: Tom's favorite outfit!
Tom: Oh yeah, we'll wear those later on, too! They're originals from some factory...
Georg: I think some sort of mining thing...
Tom: Oh yeah... and the "funky" shoes to the outfits.
Gustav [keeping a very straight face]: I think they're very stylish, it's going to be a huge trend.
Tom: Alright, there's nothing more to show.
Georg: Unfortunately. It's nice, this trailer... but it's okay, we only live here for a short time.
Tom: Well, it's warm in here at least! At least it's warm! And more cozy than outside, so it's all good. Well, we're going to change and put on those construction worker--- no, wait... well, those grey... things. So yeah. See you later.
[clip images.]
Bill: You see, we're blending in... we put on those outfits and.. uhm... but I can't wait to get out of this again.
[clip images.]
Bill [stirring in his cup]: Left, two, three, four...
[clip images.]
Bill: I hope you... yeah, I hope you could take a few impressions of what this video shoot was like. And we'll go back and change into our clothes...
[Clip end. Zoom on Bill's shirt that says "Royal Rock," gils cheer]
Glcan [with loud, high-pitched voice to somehow make herself heard through all the screaming and cheering]: Hello guys! We're back! With Tokio Hotel! And you could just see the backstage material of "bers Ende der Welt"... the video is going to be shown here, too! Wait, that's boring to say, it's going to be a world premiere!!! Yes, yes, yes... So, you weren't all alone at the video shoot, right? As we could see in the backstage clip, there were lots of extras.. I think... sixty?
Tom: Yes, right, there were sixty of them.
Glcan: What was it like to coordinate all these people... it's not that easy.
Bill: Well, I like it a lot, the more people there are... it doesn't get boring. It was extremely cold and a very long shoot and very uncomfortable, and when there are a lot of people, it's like shared pain and uh... it's always good when there are a lot of people because it never gets boring.
Glcan: And you shot this in Berlin, right?
Tom: Exactly! On this exact street. Like a bit farther out on an old factory property and... yes, right.
Glcan: And you had special clothes, mining worker outfits, very stylish.
Tom: Oh yeah, and we took one along... an original, all dirty and sweaty. Sweaty from me! No, bullshit, wait, the jacket is a bit big, it could be Georg's, actually, and the pants are XXL--- no, wait, it's small, it could be...
Bill: Mine, could be mine.
Glcan: So those are originals worn by you at the shoot?
Tom: Yeah, right.
Glcan: And you want to give this away? How nice of you! So call in at [number of the show] and tell me what the first song... or the first video was that we showed by Tokio Hotel. Look it up and you know, call in... It's like through something or whatever... you know it. Just call [the number of the show] and you can get these mining worker outfits from us and Tokio Hotel. See you in a bit.
[Girls cheering. Commercial break]
Glcan: Well, if this isn't Bill from Tokio Hotel! And they are all guests here and the studio is going crazy! Nothing is helping apparently, no soda, nothing... maybe we should give out some valium tablets or whatever, we don't know if that would help, but we'll keep going anyway. I should ask something completely different, right? Over the course of the last few days there were terrible news for some colleagues of yours: US5 [the girls in the studio go sort of like "boo"]... hey, I haven't said anything yet... US5 became US4.
Tom: Why?
Glcan: Didn't you hear? One of them, Richie, he is not part of the band anymore, apparently, and ooh, breakup, stress. Did you hear about that?
Tom: What uhm? Wait, that was the question? Well, not really...
Glcan: I wanted to ask if you are... sad? Whether it's hurting your hearts or something... you didn't even hear?
Tom: If they really break up and stuff... then that's sad, of course.
Bill: Well, in general, it's a bad thing when bands break up.
Glcan: How do you see it... when there's a band you know, that's made of four people or five people and then one of them leaves, and maybe they get a new one... Would you say, oh come on, you can still go ahead and do it, like in this case, apparently his father is keeping him at home. I don't know - chaotic story!
Bill: I think in a case of something like that, it always depends. You have to see what happens. You can't really plan ahead of time. It depends on whether everybody is fighting, or if one of them is like "Alright, I love all of you guys but I have no energy anymore, I need an break." You can't say from outside. It really depends.
Glcan: Now that we've got this out of the way... [then there was a thing about her mic not working. I'm not translating that part.] Alright, now about your mining worker outfits... you didn't just bring one, you brought about ten... actually, exactly ten, right? Did you wear all of those?
Bill: There are definitely the four from us, and then there are a few from extras. But all of them originals from the shoot...
Tom: And they were all very sexy.
Glcan: Very, very chic! Alright, so how was the shoot... like, watching the video, it's a bit like... at first sight, it was a bit like Rammstein's! Gloomy and ugh and...
Bill: Well, it was definitely the most elaborate video of ours. None of the shoots were ever this long before. It was very stressful, and actually, it's always a lot less spectacular than it later looks on TV. Waiting around for hours, the cameras get shifted around all the time... but like I said, when there's a big team, then it's still a lot of fun. But yeah... very stressful, we were happy when it was all wrapped up, and now we're excited to hear what the fans think about it.
Glcan: Did you have warm jackets or did you have to freeze in the cold?
Tom: Oh yeah, we had those awesome blue workers' jackets.
Glcan: Oh niiiice!
Tom: And we drank a lot of tea...
Bill: And we had those fan heaters. Well... one.
Tom: Oh yeah, one fan heater in the whole factory hall that was about as big as, I don't know... like 15 football fields - one fan heater. Yeah, that was comfortable.
Glcan [to the camera]: We'll watch the outcome in a bit, because you get the newest video as world premiere on VIVA Live! But first, we're going to see what happens when Tokio Hotel are in Moscow, because our featuring-team was there and went along with the guys and took nice images back! There we go!
[Clip starts.]
Off-voice: They are the most successful German newcomers.
Bill: We're having so much fun and it's so awesome, but nobody would ever have believed anything like that before.
Off-voice: They worked very hard for their success.
Bill: We are all very young, and we all have seen a lot of stuff already, met a lot of... idiots.
Off-voice: Now, they want to break into foreign countries.
Bill: I'm really nervous... I'm hoping everything will go alright.
Off-voice: Tokio Hotel - after growing up in Mgdeburg, Gustav, Georg, Tom and Bill are among the biggest shooting-stars ever! With their authentic lyrics, they are the voice of their generation. The four friends can easily fill up the biggest arenas with their concerts, and they won all the prizes, from Echo [= German Grammy] to the World Music Award. With VIVA Featuring, you can watch the rise Tokio Hotel in just one year and a half, and see them play their first concert in Russia.
Tom: It was unrealistic for us to even put out a record in Germany about a year ago! And breaking outside is even more unrealistic.
[End clip.]
Glcan: Welcome back to VIVA Live! where you get to see and hear Tokio Hotel... and now I want to hear you, on the phone! [She talks about the suits again and how you can win them by calling in.]
Glcan: We asked a few fans to tell us what they always wanted to ask you guys. And we have a selection here. So here's the first question from fans to Tokio Hotel!
Girl: I always wanted to know why you called the album "Zimmer 483"? [She says it like "Room four hundred and eighty three]
Tom: Well, first of all, it's "Zimmer 4-8-3" [like "Room four eight three] and not 483 [four hundred and eighty three]. And second... I don't know... shall we tell already?
Bill: Oh, I would say no. I wouldn't tell yet.
Glcan: Oh yes, maybe there are 483 bonus tracks on there?!
Bill: Yeah, just keep guessing. I've heard some great guesses... like, what was that? Somebody said it was... four guys, eight eyes, three instruments? But anyway, I'd say keep guessing. We won't tell yet.
Tom: It's still such a long time until the album comes out!
Bill: Yes...
Glcan: Alright, when is the album going to come out again?
Bill: On the... 23rd...I think?
Glcan: Well, I guess I better ask the girls, they definitely know! And here's the second question for you!
Girl: Hi Bill. I wanted to ask if it's true that you fell in love?
Glcan: Right??
Bill [makes a very surprised face]: No!
Glcan: How can you not know?
Bill: Not that I know of, no.
Glcan: Did you forget or something?
Bill: No, well, it's been forever... last time I was in love I was probably like 13 or 14, I think. Definitely longer...
Everybody: Awwww!
Bill: Yeah, that's definitely been a long time.
Glcan: How cute! And you others? What about the rest of you? I'll ask the rest.
Georg, Tom and Gustav: Never been in love... no, not at all... not right now...
Glcan: Never in love, never engaged, nor married... the boys are all available. And here's question number 3!
Girl: Hi Bill, if I gave you my cell phone number, would you call me?
Glcan: What do you say?
Bill: Well, uh... I get a lot of numbers from fans...
Glcan: Oh, you're such a brag!
Bill: Yeah, well... I don't think I could call all of them back. I couldn't do it. What we are trying to do is to read everything, but to write back and call and such... hm, I wouldn't promise, because it's just a whole lot, but definitely thank you to all of those who write! We're doing our best!
Glcan: Well, you really have a lot to go through, you really get a lot of stuff. But have you ever called someone, like for their birthday or for a special, like on a TV show or whatever, and she's like "eek!"
Bill: Well, sometimes fans come up to us and are like "Look, I have a friend on the phone, would you say something to her?" and of course we do that. We say "Happy birthday" or whatever... so yes, that kind of thing happens.
Glcan: Alright, so it could happen that Tokio Hotel call you! But first, you have to call in here, if you want the clothes from Tokio Hotel! [talking about the clothes again, and then she finally says the new clip is coming up. And here's where they play the new video clip in full length. Lots of cheering ensues, the camera shows the cover art and zooms out on the studio.]
Glcan: Alright, that was the new video - girls, how did you like it?
[very shrill, loud cheering.]
Glcan [rubbing her ear]: Okay, that was a shitty idea... so how did you like it? You've probably seen it before, but now you've seen it again, like on TV and stuff...?
Bill: Yeah, well, they've been cutting around on this, fine-tuning stuff, for a really long time...
Glcan: Were you always present?
Bill: Yes, we're always there, to tell them how we want things and stuff... and I have to say, it was a lot of work and it's nice when it's wrapped up, it's always nice to see the video at the end. You always shoot stuff in random order and... like first the scene with the...
Tom: You can't imagine how long it takes to get the video to look this way! Like, it's...
Glcan: How long did you take for this, now?
Tom: How long.. well, we shot like one... two... one and a half weeks ago? A week? I don't know...
Glcan: Should I ask the girls? They always seem to know...
Girl in the audience: On the 8th!
Glcan: On the 8th? Right... And how long did it take?
Girl: 15 hours.
Glcan: 15 hours, that's okay.
Bill: 28, but nevermind...
Tom: But... Yeah, well, anyway... it took forever to get it done, and we're excited about how it turned out. At first, you can't imagine what it's going to be like.
Glcan: And you just said... oh, movie quality... so it's really done high quality.
Tom: Yes, right. We shot it on 35mm film.
The others: Yeah
Glcan: Why are you looking all like little boys... like yay!
Bill: No, well, it's the first video we shot on 35mm. For those who don't know: that's really good quality material, the same that is used for movies and such. A lot of [music] videos get shot digitally and... yeah, we were happy that everything worked out.
Glcan: Yeah, it better work out, because if you shoot everything like ten times, you get into trouble "Boys, this is costing us money!" And something else that costs a bit of money, but it's very much worth it - is this thing here! [shows the "bers Ende der Welt" single to the camera] This single, and there are a few special, I just looked.. there's a B-side and a C-side and... help me, please!
Bill: There's a bonus song on there, called "Hilf mir fliegen" [help me fly], and it's not going to be on the album, either. It's just for the single. It actually wasn't done in time for the album, when the album tracklist was done. But we wanted the fans to hear it, so we put it on there. And then there's backstage material of us traveling and all those things.
Glcan: So, if you want all this, it's worth ordering this little thing home, and you can do that today, just call! [more advertisement for calling in and then somebody calls in and wins one of the suits. There's some more blablabla about the suits.]
Glcan: But now we're going to talk about "Arthur und die Minimoys"! [Girls cheer] Alright, I heard that there was a lot going on at the premiere, which was this weekend. You were there, Bill, because you gave Arthur your voice. That's like a little animal, right?
Bill: Yes, yes... well, it's a movie by Luc Besson, who did a lot of beautiful movies, and also this one is a very beautiful movie. It starts out in reality, like with real actors, and then Arthur turns into a Minimoy, which makes him like 2 millimeters tall, and yeah... I lent him my voice, and I was really excited!
Glcan: For the first time!
Bill: For the first time I did that, and it was a great experience for me, I had a lot of fun, and yeah, I was at the premiere yesterday, that was amazing... lots of fans were there.
Tom: Have you seen it? Is it in theaters yet? We haven't even seen it yet!
Bill: The guys haven't seen it yet but.
Glcan: BUT! If you haven't seen it yet, you should tune in on Wednesday, because we have clips from "Arthur und die Minimoys"! They haven't seen it yet!
Tom: No, we haven't seen it yet, but Bill promised that we could do that soon enough.
Glcan: Would you do it again, to lend your voice to a movie?
Bill: If the movie is right and I get the part like I did this time, then of course I'd do it all over again!
Glcan: Alright, people, if you want to see clips, tune in on Wednesday! It's going to be in theaters by Thursday and of course we have another interview with Bill. So if this isn't enough for you, then tune in on Wednesday for that... [and she's going on about the next show] and thank you, see you next time - TOKIO HOTEL!!
